Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County
Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County is a 99-bed regional acute care facility located in Rock Springs, WY offering a full breadth of services to the community.
Starting in 2012, Todd Space and Jake Blevins began providing MEP engineering design and construction administration services for the facility while part of their prior firm. The initial project consisted of central plant modifications to serve a new 80,000 square foot Medical Office Building addition with the existing central plant assets rather than establishing new heating, cooling, medical gas, and emergency power systems. Through those projects, Todd, and Jake developed strong relationships with the Facilities Operations group that have persevered their transition to the founding of ST+B Engineering.
ST+B has completed a number of projects for MHSC, including: Laboratory HVAC Assessment, Steam Utility Tunnel replacement study, Central Steam humidification upgrades and replacement of the existing MRI.
ST+B Engineering is proud of the many successful projects they have had the opportunity to participate in with the MHSC staff and values the relationships they have built with the facility. .
Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County – Miscellaneous Projects
The principals of ST+B Engineering have been involved with multiple miscellaneous projects at MHSC. Select projects include:
Direct Steam Humidification Upgrades – The existing water treatment protocols at the Central Steam Boiler plant were reviewed and advisement made to modify treatment in order to allow for direct plant steam humidification. Maintenance intensive steam fired humidifiers throughout the facility were thus able to be eliminated.
Laboratory HVAC Assessment – MHSC procured the services of ST+B to review existing HVAC provisions and their regulatory compliance regarding air change rates and air balance in the Laboratory area of the building.
ED Waiting Room Upgrades – ST+B provided design of HVAC system modifications to the Emergency Department waiting room to accommodate enhanced security provisions at the reception desk.
Kitchen and Cafeteria HVAC System review – ST+B performed analysis of existing HVAC systems to verify regulatory compliance and enhance acoustic comfort for newly renovated outdoor dining patio.
Chiller Upgrades – ST+B Engineering has continued to assist MHSC with ongoing projects such as MRI & CT Replacements and central chilled water upgrade for each, HVAC upgrades in response to Covid, steam plant and equipment consolidation and upgrades, comprehensive Imaging Suite Renovations, Laboratory addition & renovation, and Pneumatic Controls Systems Replacement & BAS Upgrades. Total projects completed or currently underway total in excess of $8M in capital investment in the facility.
